FPL Main Street Recovery Credit Program
December 01, 2020When the coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic became widespread in mid-March, Florida Power & Light Company acted quickly to implement special policies in support of our customers and the communities we serve. Since that time, we’ve continued working to develop new ways to support you and other customers, such as offering flexible payment options, accelerating fuel savings and providing direct relief to customers struggling to pay their bills.
That’s why I’m pleased to share that the Florida Public Service Commission recently approved FPL’s plan to expand our COVID-19 relief effort by offering bill credits to qualifying small and independent businesses through the FPL Main Street Recovery Credit Program.
Establishments in FPL’s service area that are eligible to apply for the program include:
- New small businesses
- Small businesses that were inactive for at least six months during 2020
- Existing small businesses operating in federal Opportunity Zones
Qualifying small businesses would receive a monthly 10% credit on the energy charge portion of their bill through 2021. Small business customers can visit FPL.com/MainStreetRecovery in January to fill out an application and seek approval for the new program.
FPL understands how vital small businesses are to Florida’s $1 trillion annual economy and local communities. We believe this program is one more way FPL is helping to rebuild our economy and move Florida forward.
