Port Orange, South Daytona and Daytona Beach Shores are part of the Volusia County School District. Presently, there are seven elementary, two middle schools and two high schools serving our area. These achievements include the fifth highest graduation rate in the state and student scores on standardized tests that are higher than the state and national average. Five local elementary schools, Port Orange Elementary, Spruce Creek Elementary, Sugar Mill Elementary, Sweetwater Elementary and South Daytona Elementary as well as Creekside Middle School, Spruce Creek High School and Chiles Academy Charter School, received the Five Star School Award.

In addition, students attending Spruce Creek High School have a chance to participate in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program which offers them advanced academic standing at colleges and universities throughout the world. Spruce Creek High is one of the top 100 IB schools in the world and ranks fourth based on the number of exams administered.

The Advanced Technology Center, an innovative, cooperative project of DBCC and the Volusia and Flagler County school systems, provides vocational/technical education to high school juniors and seniors as well as Associates of Science degrees in several fields.

Post-secondary education is available at a number of nearby institutions, including the Daytona Beach campus of the University of Central Florida, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach Community College, Bethune-Cookman, Florida Institute of Technology, Keiser College and the Port Orange campus of Nova University. In addition, the Palmer College of Chiropractic, the leading institution in this branch of medicine recently opened their Port Orange campus.

Volusia County Community Schools, a fee-based program, offers people of all ages a multi variety of enrichment classes in anything from cooking to CPR to art. Instruction is offered during non-school hours and in the summer.
